Some Lessons
Modeled after Kevin Kelly’s life lessons
- Don’t follow the traditional career ladder; find the side door that others ignore.
- Use your quirks as your unique selling proposition.
- Make a big deal of everything. I know it sounds weird for most introverts (including myself) but that’s the best way to add value.
- Instead of asking what others can do for you, focus on what you can offer them first.
- Airplane mode and putting your phone in another rooom are the best productivity hacks.
- There is so much wisdom in your shadow self. Learn to integrate it as soon as possible.
- Remember birthdays.
- No matter what, move daily.
- Stuck in cyclical thinking? Move your body.
- Writing helps. Don’t know what to write about? Write to your past self from 2 years ago.
- Sometimes, taking a stand on a divisive issue can define your brand.
- Schedule time for unplanned activities; paradoxically, it makes life more exciting.
- Offer small favors that take no more than 5 minutes; they can pay off big.
- Find spiritual experiences in the absence of religious beliefs.
- In decision-making, consider the third option of ‘maybe’ to buy time and reduce stress.
- Life is full of contradictions; the ability to hold two opposing ideas can be powerful.
- Keep a record of your failures; they often teach more than successes.
- Learn not just from role models but also from people who represent what you don’t want to become.
